Munich, Koenigsplatz

The King's Place (Koenigsplatz) is a public square and part of the Brienner Straße. The buildings at that square are built in the European classicism and a cultural forum for arts, museums and galleries. The square was designed at the command of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria by Karl von Fischer and laid out by Leo von Klenze with the "Doric" Propylaea and the "Ionic" Glyptothek. During the Third Reich the Koenigsplatz was designed as a field for the Nazi Party's mass rallies converted by the Architects Paul Ludwig Troost and Leonhard Gall. Today the Koenigsplatz is rebuilt to its original grandeur and open for the public.
