Peter Chermayeff (1936)

Peter Chermayeff  was born in London in 1936 and was a founding partner of Chermayeff, Sollogub and Poole. He studied at Phillips Academy, Andover, Harvard College, graduating magna cum laude in 1957, and the Harvard Graduate School of Design, receiving a Masters of Architecture degree in 1962.

In 1962 Peter Chermayeff founded Cambridge Seven Associates, Inc. together with Louis J. Bakanowsky, Paul Dietrich, Terry Rankine, Alden Christie, Ivan Chermayeff, and Thomas Geismar. He decided to resign from C7A in 1998 and founded CSP with two younger partners from C7A, Peter Sollogub and Bobby Poole.

Mr. Chermayeff  taught a studio course at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and served on the Board of Design Consultants of the University of Pennsylvania, the Board of Advisors of Boston University's School of Visual Arts, and the Visiting Committee of the Rhode Island School of Design. Since 1983, he has been a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. In 1979 he received the Fuess Award from Phillips Academy, Andover
