Sir Norman Foster

Sir Norman Robert Foster (born 1935)

Sir Norman Robert Foster was born in 1935 in Reddish, England. He is a British architect whose company had and has projects in 150 Cities in over 50 countries around the world.
He early was interested in architecture, particularly in the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier.
After School in the age of 16, he worked in the Manchester City Treasurer's office and joined the National Service in the Royal Air Force. In 1956 Foster studied at the University of Manchester's School of Architecture and City Planning. He graduated in 1961and short time after, he won the Henry Fellowship to the Yale School of Architecture, where he made his Master's degree and got to know his former business partner Richard Rogers.
Foster set up UK an architectural practice as Team 4 with Rogers and their girlfriends in 1962. Team 4 quickly earned a reputation for high-tech industrial design. In 1967 Foster and Wendy Cheeseman founded Foster Associates, later became Foster and Partners.
Foster's earlier designs reflected a sophisticated, machine-influenced high-tech vision. His style has since evolved into a more sublime, sharp-edged modernity.
Foster was knighted in 1990 and appointed to the Order of Merit in 1997.
