Francesc Daniel Molina i Casamajó (1812-1867)

Molina i Casamajó was born in 1812 in Vic and he died in 1867 in Barcelona. He was a catalonian architect.He studied at the Escola de la Llotja in Barcelona, which was later in 1843 called the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.In 1852 he designed the church de la Misericòrdia for the city of Canet de Mar. His most important project was the work on Plaza Reial in Barcelona from 1848 till 1859. He found a new way to design the traditional spanish place. He also worked on the facades and the portals.He worked together with Josep Mas i Vila on several jobs for the city of Barcelona. For example at the facade of the Casa de la Ciutat and on the Saló de la Regna Regente.The city of Barcelona honored him by building the Placa Molina in 1874.
