Sir Aston Webb (1849 -1930)

Sir Aston Webb, born 1930 in London was an English architect, mostly known for designing The Mall approach to the Buckingham Palace. From 1866 to 1871 he received his initial architectural education in the office of Banks and Barry. In 1874 Webb returned to London, after spending a year travelling in Europe and Asia, to freelance with an own office. Later he joined the Royal Institute of British Architects and started a partnersgip with Ingress Bell. The first competition they won, was the Victoria Law Courts. From 1902 to 1904 he was the President of the RIBA, became a member of the Royal Academy in 1903 and was also knighted in 1904.
