Theodore Ballu was born on 8 June 1817 in Paris. In 1835 he began his studies on the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Ballu won, 1840, the Grand Price of Rome and continued his studies at the French Academy in Rome till 1845. After his return to Paris, he became personal assitant of the architect François-Christian Gau. After his dead, Ballu was promoted to be mainly responsible architect for sacral buildings in Paris. Theodore Ballu died on 22 May 1885 in Paris.
