Birmingham, BT Tower

The British Telecom Tower is a landmark in Birmingham, England, and is also among the tallest buildings in the city. The Construction started in July 1963 and was finished in September 1965. The tower was designed by the Ministry of Public Buildings and Works with M.H. Bristow as the senior architect and became operational in December 1966. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Alderman James S. Meadows officially opened the BT Tower on October 5, in 1967. Since August 2003 the tower is covered with ultramarine blue and also the balconies were painted in a dark blue. The tower is 152 metres high and still in use for Telecommunication.
