“As he constructs a scene frame by frame, it is not always his aim to keep an exact continuity of lines and forms.” Castro. R. Fernando
The ArtCamp is an exclusive event about art, starting on Saturday, the 25th June 2016 in Siegen, Germany, and will be annually organized and hosted by the German artist and photographer Thomas Kellner and is the first of its kind. It is inspired by the concept of BarCamps which are open conferences and workshops, giving everyone the opportunity to exchange and discuss IT related topics. In contrast to the BarCamp, the ArtCamp can only be attended by invitation and follows a structure. The participants vary from artists to journalists to curators or university professors who come from all over the world. The idea behind the ArtCamp is to have an event on one day or one weekend in one place where renowned people meet for interdisciplinary incitements and exchange, a synergy and clash of intellectual minds, supporting each other to understand fields of expertise which are connected, in order to broaden one’s mind. ArtCamp should become a meeting place for intellectual people. Just like the former café Els Quatre Gats in Barcelona used to be the main center of Modernism, a scene to feed the spirit. The name Els Quatre Gats is a Catalan expression meaning “only a few people”, being used to describe people who are perceived as odd or even outsiders which can also be correlated to the ArtCamp. The aim is to form a coterie in which 1 plus 1 is greater than 2. Creations and inventions do not originate in silence but in composition of coincidences and information. Therefore intellectual people are invited to discuss and debate over art at the ArtCamp in Siegen.
Thank you to all participants for a vibrant exchange of ideas.
