Vier unter einem Dach Annual Exhibition
Vier unter einem Dach Annual Exhibition
November 30 - December 1, 2002
Studio Friedrichstrasse, Siegen, Germany
We would like to draw your attention to this year's annual exhibition of artists from the studio Friedrichstrasse and invite you to the press conference on Wednesday, November 27 2002 at 2 pm in the rooms Friedrichstrasse 42.
As every year, the artists give an insight into their current works in the rooms of the studios. Unlike in the past few years, however, three of the artists working in Friedrichstrasse are showing their work of the "Vier unter einem Dach" this year.
The photographic works of Thomas Kellner are dominated by the confrontation with monuments. On show is a series of new monuments created during an artist-in-residence stay in Wales and England. In addition, work can be seen from his latest project. These are black-and-white photograms of native deciduous trees.
Melanie Müller presents works made of paper, which she folds according to the material, kinks, sticks. The focus of her expansive installations, consisting of an unmanageable multiplicity of identical or similar elements, lies on the aesthetic side. In the respective arrangement, the space is included, but at the same time also changed. The two-dimensional sheet becomes three-dimensional and intervenes in the room, with light and shade as additional factors making the work appear again and again.
In contrast, the narrative moment plays a central role in the works of Sabiene Autsch. In her most recent work, she has increasingly dealt with the serial character and thus with forms of staging text and image fragments. The result is playful and seemingly random or seemingly unrelated pictorial orders (photography, painting, drawing) that confront the viewer with their own realities.
