Thomas Hobbes: * 5. April 1588 in Westport, Wiltshire; † 4. December 1679 in Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire.
Hobbes was an English mathematician, state theorist and philosopher. In his main work "Leviathan" he developed his theory for the foundation of absolutism. Today he is regarded as the spiritual founder of modern state philosophy.
