The Art Exchange since 1998
1997 I decided to stay in Siegen and make my living as an artist. But how? The regional art market was still very small and controlled by a few people and some galleries. Some of my friends kept on talking about an earlier exhibition a few years before, where we had exhibited more like in a supermarket style. “Art by the meter” was the general idea.
I called those friends together and we organized the first local art fair for artists in my town. Under the heading "Kunstwechsel" (Art Exchange) all participating artists were able to show and sell their work on a weekend in December. There was an accompanying programme with lectures, parties, performances and much more. The "Kunstwechsel" is still being organized by this group at different locations in Siegen.
