art BH Belo Horizonte 2015
From May 23 to 26, around 30 of the country's best art galleries will be moving around Minascentro, in Belo Horizonte, presenting their collections to Brazilian collectors and the general public during ArtBh, the first modern and contemporary art fair. The Secretary of State for Culture, Angelo Oswaldo, will be present at the launch ceremony on May 22.
The promoter behind the idea is Nilso Farias, from Stand Marketing Cultural, who is known for leading several successful initiatives throughout Brazil. Over the last 45 years, he has participated in both car and fashion fairs, such as Minas Mostra Mulher in the 1980s, which, under his leadership, changed the face of the sector in Minas Gerais.
Last year, while looking for something new in the events area, he came across the art market and fell in love. It was his enthusiasm that led him to recruit hand-picked top gallerists from the capital as participants in ArtBH, so that the new fair would be born under the aegis of quality.
Galeria Murilo de Castro, Dotart Galeria, Lemos de Sá Galeria de Arte, Galeria Celma Albuquerque, Galeria Manoel Macedo, Galeria Quadrum, Galeria Orlando Lemos, Galeria Celma Alvim, AM Galeria, Galeria Beatriz Abi Ackel head the list from Minas Gerais.
"I chose this group because they are the best, the most committed to the market. They are active, have a collection of high quality and added artistic value and are used to doing launches at art events all over the world," explains Nilso Farias. Along with these "beasts", as the promoter classifies them, there will be galleries from the north to the south of the country, which leads us to believe that more than 500 artists will be presented at the first edition of ArtBh.
Public - For the businessman, Belo Horizonte deserved to host an event of this kind a long time ago. "The capital of Minas Gerais is second to none, offering an equipped hotel network, exquisite restaurants, a dense and high-quality cultural program, leisure options, as well as safety. "These are factors that make it easy to bring in the most important art collectors from Brazil and the Southern Cone," he says.
Nilso Farias points out that, in addition to collectors, ArtBh's audience will include managers of museums and private collections, directors of art foundations, cultural centers, architects, interior designers, etc. To begin this experiment, which promises to expand in subsequent editions, the decision was made to hold a smaller event, with around 30 galleries, which will occupy the second floor of Minascentro.
