For 5 years, the Dortmund Artists' Associations, in cooperation with BIG Insurance and the Cultural Office, have been using the exhibition hall in the building next to the U. Together we have turned this gallery into the BIG gallery. In addition to the annual exhibitions of the associations, there was a joint exhibition of all the groups every year. It was time for us to tackle a project together with the landlord, the BIG. Both the artists and BIG are to present objects under the title "Movement.

Health and art. An exciting topic.
From the health insurance company's point of view, movement means physical exercise as an important building block for stabilizing the circulation, for the well-being of the body and mind, and also means something like a contribution to the balance of the soul. And with terms such as spirit and soul, we are already at an important aspect of artistic creation.

From the point of view of art, however, movement also means something very fundamental to creative work: the constant development of ideas, of confrontation, of production. Every new work is a new departure. Art cannot stand still. Art is always in motion. And in phenomena such as Futurism, Action Painting, Action Art and Fluxus, the concept of movement plays a central role.

Another meaning of this term is societal, political or social processes of acting groups to achieve social change. Here, too, artists and their work have been and continue to be important actors. Generic terms from artistic development since the 19th century such as Impressionism, Cubism, Expressionism, Art Informel etc. have also been understood as movements in resistance to academic guidelines and ossifications.

For the planned exhibition, fellow artists are invited to explore this theme and its diverse aspects and meanings.

 

 

Seit 5 Jahren bespielen die Dortmunder Künstlerverbände in Zusammenarbeit mit der BIG-Versicherung und dem Kulturbüro die Ausstellungshalle im Gebäude neben dem U. Gemeinsam haben wir diese Galerie zur BIG gallery gemacht. Neben den Jahresausstellungen der Verbände gab es jedes Jahr eine gemeinsame Ausstellung aller Gruppen. Es wurde Zeit, dass wir ein Projekt mit dem Hausherrn, der BIG, gemeinsam in Angriff nehmen. Unter dem Titel „Bewegung“ sollen sowohl die Künstler als auch die BIG Objekte präsentieren.

Gesundheit und Kunst. Ein spannendes Thema.

Bewegung aus Sicht der Krankenkasse meint die körperliche Bewegung als wichtigen Baustein zur Stabilisierung des Kreislaufs, zum Wohlbefinden des Körpers und des Geistes, meint eben auch so etwas wie einen Beitrag zum Gleichgewicht der Seele. Und bei Begriffen wie Geist und Seele sind wir schon bei einem wichtigen Aspekt künstlerischen Schaffens.

Aus Sicht der Kunst meint Bewegung aber auch etwas sehr grundsätzliches kreativer Arbeit: Die ständige Weiterentwicklung der Ideen, der Auseinandersetzung, der Produktion. Jede neue Arbeit ein neuer Aufbruch. Kunst kann nicht stehenbleiben. Kunst ist immer in Bewegung. Und in Erscheinungen wie Futurismus, Action-Painting, Aktionskunst, Fluxus spielt der Begriff der Bewegung eine zentrale Rolle.

Ein anderes Bedeutungsbecken dieses Begriffs sind gesellschaftliche, politische oder soziale Prozesse von handelnden Gruppen zur Erreichung von gesellschaftlichem Wandel. Auch hier waren und sind immer wieder auch Künstler mit ihrer Arbeit wichtige Akteure. Auch Oberbegriffe aus der künstlerischen Entwicklung seit dem 19. Jahrhundert wie Impressionismus, Kubismus, Expressionismus, Informel usw. haben sich als Bewegungen im Widerstand gegen akademische Vorgaben und Verknöcherungen verstanden.

Für die geplante Ausstellung sind die Künstlerkolleginnen und –Kollegen aufgefordert, sich mit diesem Thema und seinen vielfältigen Aspekten und Bedeutungsthemen auseinanderzusetzen.
