When we talk about the landscape, we often see an aesthetic ideal image, a view made up of natural and / or urban elements. But this image is essentially a static projection of a reality that is constantly moving.

Contemporary landscapes are often undefined "non-places". Places where traces of industrial development and exploitation of natural resources are stuck or where remnants of war, of shifting border lines and of migration form scars in the landscape. The landscape bears witness to its history, to violence and encounters from the past.

The artists who meet in the exhibition “Remembering Landscape” offer a voice to the landscape in their work. They create current images of the landscape, sometimes fictional, sometimes documentary or rather symbolic. They call on us to shape the story with our imagination and thus fill in the (in) visible past, to read and decipher the images. They appeal to our ability to stand still and mourn for what we have lost.

thank you to Eva Schmidt for including me in this exhibition
