“The interesting thing about the buildings photographed by Kellner is that they are material and unreal at the same time.” Michalowska, M., Kontakt, Kellner, Thomas, 2014, Seltmann+Söhne, Berlin/Siegen, page 50

Voll retro

From fashion and product design to art and culture - the retro or vintage style that has been observed for years is shaping numerous areas. While the omnipresent media are constantly coming up with new innovative themes that are all too often confusing and remain on the surface, "retro" seems to be positioning itself as a kind of antithesis. Grandmother's times are reawakened through set pieces and associated with a certain sense of security. A supposed revival and recognition of a previously experienced (early) phase: a déjà vu experience that unconsciously creates orientation and offers security? The Arbeitskreis Siegerländer Künstlerinnen und Künstler (ASK) addresses these questions and impulses in the exhibition "Voll RETRO - déjà-vu" in many facets and approaches. Not in the sense of "seen before" (which is the official translation of the French term dejà vù), but in the sense of "reinterpreted".
