Josep Oriol Mestres i Esplugues (1815 - 1895)
Josep Oriol Mestres i Esplugues, born 1815 inBarcelona, was a Spanish architect, mostly known for his work completing the Neo-Gothic facade of the Cathedral of Barcelona. he died in 1895.
Coming from a family of architects he studied at the school Llotja Barcelona, and moved to Madrid in 1841, where he finished his studies at the School of Architecture. In 1855 he became the major architect of the cathedral in Barcelona completing the Neo-Gothic facade, following the original plans made by master Carlos in 1408.
