Josep Puig i Cadafalch (1867 – 1956)
Josep Puig i Cadafalch, born 1867 in Mataró near Barcelona, was a Modernist Catalan architect who designed many buildings in Barcelona. He designed "la Casa Martí" (also known as "Els Quatre Gats").
1887 he entered "Centre Escolar Catalanista" and he started to work in Matarò. Later, he went to Barcelona, where he finished his architect studies in 1891 and received the title Professor of Architecture Barcelona School. He is considered the last of representatives of Art Nouveau and the first of the Noucentisme (new artistic way following the Art Nouveau).
