Palacio Alvorado, Brasilia
The Palácio da Alvorada is the official residence of the President of Brazil and was designed along the rest of the city by Oscar Niemeyer. The building was inaugurated in 1958. The building has an area of 7,000 square metres and three floors: basement, landing and second floor. The auditorium, kitchen, laundry, medical center, and the administration are at basement level. The rooms used by the presidency for official receptions are on the landing. There are four suites, two apartments and other private rooms on the second floor which is the residential part of the palace. The "Alvorada" lies on a peninsula at the margins of Lake Paranoá and is built with Niemeyers principles of simplicity and modernity. I came here at least 3 times for photographing and only on my last trip in 2009 I got access to the area for photographing in a much closer distance
