Seversky blast furnace, mid 19th Century, Seversky Tube Works
The oldest of the existing blast furnaces in Russia is at the site of the Seversky Tube Works. It was built in 1860 and cast iron was first smelt here. Prior, cast iron had been delivered from the Polevskoy factory. Starting in the mid 19th Century, there was a full production cycle at the Seversky factory. Inside the building, there is a blast furnace from 1898. It was in use until 1934 when cast iron production became ineffective. In 1970, the blast furnace and another building near it were transformed into the Seversky
Blast Furnace Museum Complex.
