Catedral de la Almudena, Madrid
The Cathedral de la Almudena was finally consecrated by Pope John-Paul II in 1993 after 100 Years of construction. In1883 the construction starts under the direction of Marqués de Cubas. The neo gothic cathedral has got a ground plan in the form of a Latin cross. The cathedral is 104m long and 76m wide. The central dome has a diameter of 20m. The interior of the Almudena Cathedral is more modern and much more modest than that of its larger counterpart in Toledo.
