photographers:network selection 2010
Siegen. It's that time again. From Saturday, 18 works by colleagues will once again be on display at the Friedrichstraße studio in the photographers:network selection 2010 exhibition as part of the art summer. Thomas Gerwers from PROFIFOTO, Manfred Zollner from fotomagazin, Thomas Schirmböck from ZEPHYR Raum für Fotografie der Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen Mannheim, and Lotahr Albrecht from L.A. Galerie Frankfurt, together with myself, have selected 18 works for the exhibition from over fifty applications. This year, fotomagazin is awarding a portfolio prize for the second time, which goes to Wawi Navarroza, Manila.
Before the exhibition opened in the afternoon at 3 p.m., short lectures were held in the morning from 10-12 a.m. in the lecture room of the Museum of Contemporary Art. 6 colleagues gave a deeper insight into their work in projections: Evzen Sobek, Brno, Czechia, Claudia Fährenkemper, Werne, Daniel Schumann, Bielefeld, Katarzyna Majak, Warsaw, Poland, William Mokrynski, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Jochen Dietrich, Siegen
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the participants in the exhibition, the photographers who traveled to the exhibition, the jurors, Helga Oberkalkofen from the Art Galerie, Eva Schmidt and Stefanie Scheit-Koppitz from the Museum für Gegenwartskunst, as well as Peter Büdenbender from zettB for the graphic support. In particular, I would like to thank Thomas Gerwers for the very nice publication in the current PROFIFOTO and Manfred Zollner for the portfolio prize, which will also appear in fotoMAGAZIN in July. Thanks to Katarzyna Majak for the report she wrote for the Polish magazine FOTOGRAFIA quarterly. I would especially like to thank Kultur Siegen and RWE Siegen for their financial support of the project, without whose support such a group exhibition would hardly be possible.
To finance the exhibition, I am again auctioning off one of my paintings in the form of a silent auction, which ends on Sunday, July 4th at 6 pm. (49#64, Brasilia, Congress, 2009, C-print, 26,5 x 28 cm, AP1/18+3AP)
