Collection Carmen Oberst

Bruchsal. Until December 28, 2024, the exhibition offers a multifaceted exploration of the medium of photography and is an example of the dynamic art scene that Oberst continuously promotes.

The renowned artist Carmen Oberst, born in Karlsruhe in 1954.  In 1993, she founded PHOTO.KUNST.RAUM in Hamburg, an innovative space that presents her own works as well as those of other artists. This space not only serves as a platform for her own art, but also promotes a lively exchange between artists. Oberst and her team organize new exhibitions every month, highlighting different themes and perspectives to strengthen dialogue and networking within the art community.

The decision to present the Photo.Kunst.Raum exhibition in the magnificent Bruchsal City Palace is a tribute to the combination of historical architecture and contemporary art. The palace, built in the 18th century under the Prince-Bishop of Schönborn-Buchheim, was once a royal residence and today houses important museums such as the Palace Museum and the German Museum of Automata and Music Boxes. Carmen Oberst's exhibition fits harmoniously into this historical context and offers visitors an exciting confrontation between past and present.

A special highlight in the history of PHOTO.KUNST.RAUM was the meeting of several artists in 2021, at which Thomas Kellner and Carmen Oberst presented their work together with other artists. This meeting enabled an intensive exchange and in-depth communication, which can also be felt in the current exhibition. The dialogs and collaborations that began here continue in the current presentation and broaden perspectives on contemporary photography.

Kellner is known for his deconstructed architecture, which can also be found in this exhibition.
The Photo.Kunst.Raum exhibition at Bruchsal City Palace invites art lovers and visitors to rediscover contemporary photography through the lens of Carmen Oberst and her collaborative projects. Until the end of December, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the fascinating works in a unique historical setting and be inspired by the creativity and versatility of this art form.
