Bietigheim-Bissingen.On the 19th of July, Thomas Kellner was selected by the jury as one of three artists for his work "If only there were words" at the 11th edition of the exhibition "Linolschnitt heute" in Bietigheim - Bissingen City Gallery is purchased and exhibited. The prize has been awarded since 1989 by the local linoleum factories. Over 500 artists from all over the world applied for the exhibition. The prize not only offers a chance for contemporary artists, but also for those who have rediscovered the linocut. The competition thus makes an important contribution to further establishing the linocut in addition to the woodcut as a high-pressure technique. Three prizes worth € 5000, € 3000 and € 2000 will be awarded. In addition to the award winners, three further works will be purchased by the jury. Among them is the photo artist Thomas Kellner from Siegen, who is actually known for his work with contact sheets, with which he creatively redesigns architecture in a playful way. Kellner's work "If only there were words" illustrates the tense relationship between philosophy and technology in an artistic way and raises the question of social and cultural values. Kellner combines philosophy and technology through participatory elements in the form of QR codes, which are then passed on to a website with information about the respective philosophers. His work pays homage to all the wise philosophers Kellner wants to give back in this way. The works of 44 selected artists can be seen in an urban exhibition from 20 July to 6 October 2019 in Bietigheim - Bissingen, to which a catalog will also be published.
