Siegen. Last Saturday the 4th ArtCamp took place at studio Thomas Kellner. The ArtCamp is an exclusive event on the subject of art and takes place since 2016 under this title in Siegen. From 2004 to 2013, a similar event already took place under the title photographers: network. The event is inspired by the Californian IT industry's BarCamps. The participants come from different professional groups, such as photographers, artists, journalists, art historians, curators and university professors. The idea behind the ArtCamp is to create a space in which renowned people meet for interdisciplinary ideas and exchanges, to create a synergy and a clash of intellectual spirits that mutually support one another in order to better understand and connect interrelated disciplines, ultimately broadening their horizonz. Just like the former café Els Quatre Gats in Barcelona used to be a center for modernism. The name Els Quatre Gats is an expression from Catalan, which means "few people" and describes people who are considered different or even outsiders, which could also be referred to the ArtCamp. The goal is to create a node where 1 plus 1 is greater than 2. Creations and inventions do not arise in the dark room, but in chains of coincidences and information. Professors and artists from China, Switzerland, Poland, USA, France, Ukraine, the Netherlands and Germany met at the Thomas Kellner studio for this year's ArtCamp.
