Can a photograph capture my youth? In her images, Liu Lijie tells about the dreams and hopes of a girl in a dreamy, playful and partly surreal way. But it is neither about youth nor really childhood that she depicts but more the transition from being a child to a new sense of awareness. She just captures every moment in which a child stops playing and actually recognizes the real world. Liu Lijie’s images capture the viewer between sweet child and fear - or between naive and reality.
