For a very long time I was thinking about another strategy for an artist- run gallery. The final concept was to open a gallery as a branch of another one. A gallerist would run the business with participating artists sharing the costs but also the gallery profits. We found over 30 local and European artists with art on paper that joined the project. Following 9/11, because business went quite hard and we had to give up the second shop, also because the owners wanted to double the rent at that time (!?!). Today, it is part of the first gallery as a shop in shop system on the first floor and proper gallery on the second floor we still sell art on paper very successfully.
