Thomas Kellner – Space between Windows
At the beginning of my thesis I continued to experiment with making my own pinhole cameras for 120 roll film. One of these cameras was to be for my trip around Germany and before the trip I wanted to have tried it out properly.
Between the windows of our historic studio building, an old brewery, many insects got lost, especially in the dark season, attracted by the light, came through gaps into the space and did not find their way out again. A graveyard on every windowsill. But much more interesting, in fact, was the narrow space that the wide-angle pinhole camera turned into an abrupt canyon. The old industrial windows gave the perspective a further irritation as an un-place. Fluted glass, frosted glass, and drawn glass sometimes more or less allowed a view of the landscape outside the building.
Thus a series of pictures was created about a space between two windows. Part of the edition is spiral bound, the other part as a portfolio with loose prints
