Budapest, Chain Bridge from my sketchbook
The Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge connects the Pest and Buda and it is across the river Danube. It was built in 1836 by William Tierney Clark and Adam Clark. The Bridge is 375 metre long and 16 metres wide and was opened on November 20, 1849. In 1857 the Scottish engineer Adam Clark, dug a 350 meter long tunnel through the Castle Hill to connect the bridge with the Buda hinterland. The bridge has become a symbol of Hungarian liberty.
