Sian Bonnell wins Award of Excellence
Pingyao/China. On September 21, this year's awards were presented at the 24th Pingyao International Photography Festival in a festive gala. Thomas and Helga Kellner, together with Chiara Manon Bohn, were delighted to receive one of the two international prizes awarded this year. Sian Bonell, Küchen Theater receives the Award of Excellence. The Art Galerie team is delighted with the recognition of her work. The exhibition Küchen Theater by Sian Bonell was shown at the Art Galerie in Siegen from the end of June to mid-August 2024 and received a very positive response. The Siegen exhibition has already been honored by a double-page report in Photonews. Now the success in China.
As a trained sculptor, Sian Bonnell has been working with the medium of photography for many years, creating whimsical and surreal visual worlds between performance and Dada.
Sian Bonnell was born in London in 1956. She studied sculpture at the Chelsea School of Art and completed her Masters in Fine Art. She later completed a doctorate at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her work has been exhibited worldwide, from Europe to North and South America and Asia. She can be found in major public collections such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.
Thomas Kellner has been curating exhibitions for China's largest and oldest photography festival since 2013. His exhibitions have been honored with several awards, such as Dirk Hanus (2014), whom the Art Galerie had already shown in 2009, Claudia Fährenkemper (2016) with her follow-up exhibition Armor, Daniel Schumann (2015), Elaine Duigenan (2018), Marc Baruth (2022) and now Sian Bonnell (2024).
