Chapel Schools at Kunstverein Leimen

Chapel Schools meet Panama

Opening at Kunstverein Leimen

St. Ilgen. On October 5, the Kunstverein Leimen opened the exhibition Kontrast-er-Leben with paintings by the German-Panamanian artist David Delvalle, as well as photographs and studies by the renowned fine art photographer Thomas Kellner.

David Delvalle's works offer unique perspectives on the life and culture of Panama and Central America and are characterized by a multitude of inspiring influences. From the country's rich indigenous culture to global art movements, the German-Panamanian artist's works reflect a wide range of influences.

Through his innovative approaches, he creates impressive artworks that express his thoughts, feelings and experiences in a unique and powerful way, artworks that touch and inspire viewers and encourage dialog. David Delvalle lives and works in Leimen.

The fine art photographer Thomas Kellner has mastered an extraordinary art: he makes buildings and famous sights dance. Buildings fall to pieces, swaying from side to side, because when Kellner photographs world-famous buildings, he assembles his motifs from numerous individual images, which then form a whole; dancing walls, familiar and strange at the same time.

Kellner's works captivate through the intense interplay of light and composition. The result is timeless pictures reminiscent of the Cubist style.  With the “Chapel Schools” shown in Leimen, the pfine art photographer refers back to his origins as an artist and the origins of photography: black and white photography.

Thomas Kellner was born in Bonn in 1966. He was appointed to the German Society for Photography more than 20 years ago and his work is represented in numerous private and public collections and is shown in solo and group exhibitions in renowned institutions worldwide.

The Kunstverein Leimen and the exhibiting artists cordially invite you to discover the fascination for the known in the unknown at the fall exhibition “Kontrast-er-leben”.  The exhibition offers the opportunity to make direct contact with the artists and gain insights into their creative processes.
